Assignment Basics

Topic

  • Must fall within the time scope of the class.
  • Must be an arguable thesis:
  • Be sure you can find sufficient resources for the topic!

Structure

  • An introduction with thesis statement, body with 3-4 points to support the thesis, a conclusion.

Style and Format

  • 5 to 7 pages, double spaced.
  • Typed using Arial, Calibri, or Times New Roman 12 point font.
  • First page includes Title, student name, class, and date.
  • All other pages include a header with student last name and page number.
  • Use the MLA Style Guide for in-text citations and your bibliography.

Sources

  • Include a minimum of 2 primary sources.
  • Include a minimum of 3 scholarly secondary sources, such as:
    • Scholarly books and journals.
    • Each secondary source must be a different medium (e.g. book, journal, podcast, film, etc.).
  • Evaluate the credibility of your sources.
  • You may NOT use your textbook or Wikipedia as a source!
  • Cite all sources using the MLA Style Guide. Failure to do so is plagiarism, which is grounds for failure!
