NSG 211: Maternal Newborn Nursing

The mission of the American Academy of Pediatrics is to attain optimal physical, mental, and social health and well-being for all infants, children, adolescents and young adults. To accomplish this, AAP shall support the professional needs of its members.

The American Nurses Association (ANA) is the only full-service professional organization representing the interests of the nation's 3.1 million registered nurses through its constituent member nurses associations and its organizational affiliates. The ANA advances the nursing profession by fostering high standards of nursing practice, promoting the rights of nurses in the workplace, projecting a positive and realistic view of nursing, and by lobbying the Congress and regulatory agencies on health.

The purpose of the Maternal Newborn Nursing Core Certification is to provide a competency-based examination that tests specialty knowledge and the application of that knowledge for, licensed registered nurses in the US and Canada with a minimum of two years of specialty experience in providing care to the childbearing family from birth to six weeks within hospital or outpatient settings.

The American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) is the professional association that represents certified nurse-midwives (CNMs) and certified midwives (CMs) in the United States. ACNM sets the standard for excellence in midwifery education and practice in the United States and strengthens the capacity of midwives in developing countries. Our members are primary care, sexual, and reproductive providers for people throughout their lifespans, with a special emphasis on pregnancy, childbirth, and gynecologic and reproductive health.

American Pregnancy Association Helpline is a national health organization committed to ongoing reproductive research and education, promoting community awareness and providing fact-based information for women and families with pregnancy related needs.
Our goal is to empower women and families, within their own communities, through education and counseling, by offering healthy reproductive options and promoting and supporting healthy pregnancies with positive outcomes.
