This guide will give information about Open Educational Resources that instructors and students can use for free.

Complete Courses and Supplemental Materials

Complete courses along with supplemental materials: free 

  • Lumen Learning: Peer reviewed curriculum on many different subjects. To access the free content, choose a course of interest, then click on the link that says "View Course Content and Outcomes."

    • LMS integration and other support is available for a small cost. See the fee based section below for more information. 

  • MIT OpenCourseWare: MIT courses available for free - includes video lectures, supplemental materials and more

  • OpenLearn: free learning platform created in the UK

  • OpenStax LMS Course Packages : choose a book, then click on the "Instructor Resources" tab.

  • Saylor Academy: nonprofit initiative that offers free and open online courses

Fee based services that enhance OER course content (cost may be passed on to students)

  • BNC OER+ (formerly LoudCloud Courseware) : From the website: "BNC OER+ comes complete with e-text, video, auto-graded practice quizzes, in-class activities, discussion questions, homework, and assessments.  Instructor resources include a test bank and lecture slides."

  • OpenStax Tech Scout : fee based learning technology options partnered with OpenStax
